Peter division of the Prescott Midget Showcase Tournament. In the game one against versus the Upper Canada Cyclones, the Petes lost after a scoreless OT and then 10 rounds of shooters in a shootout. Both Aaron Esposito and Alec Brown played strong throughout the tournament. A skills competition was part of the tournament with representatives from each of the 16 teams competing.

In past years, teams from as far away as Riga, Latvia have competed at The Leo. The Leo Boivin Community Centre failed an inspection of its floor-cooling plant, which was the same type and vintage as the plant used by an arena in Fernie BC. In October , three people died from an ammonia leak at the arena. Since the closure of the arena in Prescott, area clubs have had some challenges finding ice time in the area, which led to the organizers looking at taking The Leo on the road, to Morrisburg. We wanted it to go somewhere nearby that was similar to Prescott. Somewhere with the same sort of feel. Sargeant said the organizers felt that Morrisburg was the best place for the tournament, announcing the move last fall.
The Leo Boivin Midget AAA Showcase arrives in Morrisburg in one month
Infrastructure funding for a new arena and community centre to be built near the north end of Sophia Street in Prescott was announced on Wednesday. Construction is slated to begin this summer. The local minor hockey organization had to scramble when it was announced late in the summer of that the ice surface at the Leo Boivin Community Centre across the street from Fort Wellington had been closed permanently. The association had been fortunate to have three arenas with which to work, according to the president; the other two are in Cardinal and Spencerville.
Now in its 45th year, this tournament has come a long way from the eight team one-day event first started in to the current 16 team tournament that welcomes the world! This tournament has set the standard, with its reputation for hospitality and excellent organization. The Leo Boivin Showcase is truly a community event.
